Delegation

The delegation of KITE is required to participate in HAI Governance and is designed to be intuitive, dynamic, and user-friendly. Self-delegation is available to token holders who prefer to participate directly in governance. In contrast, token holders who prefer a more passive role can delegate to elected community members of their choice. Delegation can be revoked or changed at any time through the Tally platform.

Delegation is required for KITE token holders to participate in HAI governance both directly and passively. Token holders have the option to vote directly on proposals through self-delegation, or to delegate their voting power to a representative. You can delegate your voting power to another address whether or not you have enough tokens to submit an on-chain proposal.

What is a delegate?

A delegate is a KITE token holder who has been elected by the HAI Governance community to represent other token holders and vote on their behalf. Delegates are elected by token holders who choose to delegate their voting power to them and must act in the best interest of the token holders they represent.

Why delegate?

Delegation provides an opportunity for token holders to engage in HAI Governance without the need to actively monitor and vote on every proposal. By delegating their voting power, token holders can passively participate by entrusting a representative to vote on proposals in alignment with their own beliefs and values.

Dynamic Delegation

Token holders who delegate their voting power can revoke the delegation at any time and regain voting power for themselves. This may be desirable, for example, if there is an important proposal they wish to vote on directly. Additionally, you can proportionally delegate your voting power to multiple delegates. It's worth noting that revoking delegation is not required to sell or transfer tokens; the delegation is revoked automatically in this case. For more detailed instructions on how to delegate your voting power, please refer to the "How-to guides" section.
